Overview

This one year management course is designed to develop students as professional individuals who are able to meet the demands of travel and tourism employers and adapt to a constantly changing world. This is an ideal course for candidates wishing to grow their knowledge of this fast-paced and dynamic industry. This programme is delivered by industry experienced lecturers with a wealth of sector specific knowledge.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age on or before 1st July in the year of proposed entry to the course.
Applicants should have obtained a minimum of 48 UCAS points achieved through the completion of A-levels, National Awards, Access or other alternative approved level 3 qualifications.
Applicants should have attained at least 15 points at Level 2 or above (e.g. GCSE) or have alternative approved qualifications. This must include GCSE English Language Grade C or Essential Skills Communication Level 2 and GCSE Mathematics Grade C or Essential Skills Numeracy Level 2. In addition, applicants must provide evidence of competence in written and spoken English Language.

Please note that applicants progressing to higher education courses at Level 4 and above in the College or UK Universities may require a specific GCSE/ A Level profile. In some cases, the Essential Skills in Literacy and Numeracy may not be a suitable alternative to a GCSE. It is the responsibility of the applicant to check each University’s progression requirements before enrolling on a course at the College.

A base campus has been listed for the purposes for any face-to-face delivery.

Throughout the duration of this one year course, you will study eight modules, including:

Contemporary Travel & Tourism Industry.
Managing the Customer Experience.
Travel & Tourism Business Toolkit.
Leadership & Management.
Professional Identity & Practice.

There are a variety of assessment methods used during this programme including written reports, projects, group work, seminars and presentations.

Field trips: It is highly recommended that you attend and participate in approximately two field trips throughout the duration of the year to enhance your learning experience and to provide you with an insight into progression opportunities for employment and additional study. Each trip will incur a cost of up to £10 for travel, which you will be expected to pay prior to the trip taking place.

On successful completion of this Level 4 HNC and with the required grades, you may progress to the second year of the Higher National Diploma (HND) in International Travel & Tourism Management, or alternatively you may wish to progress to the Ulster University Level 5 Foundation Degree in Hospitality & Tourism with Specialisms offered at Southern Regional College.

Upon completion of this course, you will have the opportunity to seek employment within the industry in a wide range of positions, usually at supervisory or junior management level. These positions may be in a variety of sectors including travel, transport, tourism, events, hospitality, events or the entertainment industries.
